Jewellery Care Instructions

Looking after your piece

Sterling silver is made to be worn. Wearing it often actually slows tarnish, because skin contact and light friction keep the surface bright.

Last on, first off. Put jewellery on after sunscreen, perfume and moisturiser. Take it off before swimming, the gym, cleaning, gardening and bed.

Keep it dry. Salt water, chlorine and sweat speed up tarnish. Pat dry if it gets wet.

Store it sealed. Keep each piece in its pouch or a small zip-lock bag, away from other jewellery so stones don't scratch metal.

Clean gently. A silver polishing cloth is all most pieces need. For a deeper clean, see below.

Your stones. Lab-grown sapphire and ruby are very hard (9 on the Mohs scale, just below diamond), so they're great for daily wear. The silver around them is softer, so avoid knocks against hard surfaces that could loosen a setting. Softer stones like Opals or semi-precious stones have much lower Mohs scale ratings, so be careful with knocks and daily wear to avoid damage to these.
